COMMON NAME: Mugwort
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Artemisia vulgaris

LIFECYCLE: Perennial
FEATURES: Rhizomatous perennial herb. Can reach up to 5 feet in height or can adapt to 3 to 4 inch mowing
height. Leaves divided with divisions causing leaflets to appear alternate. Flowers small, occurring on
upper portion of tall growing plant.
DESCRIPTION: A problematic weed in potted plant production. Can contaminate ornamental beds and creep into
taller mowed turf. Often referred to as “wild chrysanthemum” due to similarities in leaf shape and
growth habit.
